Terry just got back from Oklahoma City for a visit to
the FAA:
I just spent 3 days with my new race partner at the FAA in Oklahoma City, attending the
CAMI physiology & survival training and visiting the TRACON and tower at Will Rogers Airport (OKC). What an eye opener!
I learned lots about hypoxia, spacial disorientation, surviving a crash and I can make fire using a 9 volt battery. (Go ahead
and ask me how.) Read my full report and see photos at http://www.teamwildmama.com/id28.html
Judy's Report from the Southeast Sectional Meeting:
I flew 2104R up to Birmingham, AL
this passed weekend for the Southeast Section Meeting. What a blast! Friday evening they had a meet and greet reception, and
the food! Met lots of familiar faces and some new ones. In the Hospitality room, we picked up our registrations and
was given a ticket to check out the door prize table, and of course, we all got door prizes. Sat am we had breakfast in the
Hospitality Room and then down to the conference area for the meeting. There was lots of business to be covered, and one topic
was about the listserves and how to use them, and how important they are for all members. Also how easy it is to update your
info on line with headquarters. (I came home and updated a lot of your info for you, as membership chair). After the meeting,
we all went to the Irondale Cafe for lunch. Some of us ate "fried green tomatoes" as this was the cafe that made
them famous in the movie. We then had a wings program, safety seminar, which was a tour of Birmingham Tower and ATC facility.
Very interesting and the guys were happy to answer any questions we had. We then went to see the air museum, and was
entertained by a story teller about friends she met in that area when she was in college. Very interesting and animated. We
then had an indoor picnic of fried chicken, cole slaw, potato salad, rolls. There was a silent auction, dessert and then we
went back to the hotel. Sunday AM was another hospitality breakfast and goody bags to go. There were several things for sale
from other chapters, including wings from the Embrey Riddle Aeronautical University 99s, for $15.00. The students brought
7 members from their chapter. They were so much fun. They are so enthusiastic! I got about 9 hours of solo cross country time
in. It was the longest cross country I had done, as PIC. What a confidence builder.
